# Installation

l-carmenu needs no framework and no database. The only dependency is [ox\_lib](https://github.com/overextended/ox_lib), which it uses for the notifications.

{% hint style="warning" %}
Keep the folder named `l-carmenu`. The script checks its own name on start and stays inactive when renamed.
{% endhint %}

### Steps

1. Drop the `l-carmenu` folder into your `resources` directory.
2. Add it to your `server.cfg`, after ox\_lib:

   ```
   ensure ox_lib
   ensure l-carmenu
   ```

   If the folder sits inside a bracket folder that is already ensured (for example `[lscripts]`), no extra line is needed for l-carmenu.
3. Open `config.lua` and set the language and the default key.
4. Restart the server.

### Opening the menu

Sit in a vehicle and press **M** (default) or type `/carmenu`. The same key closes it again, ESC works too.

Players can rebind the key in the FiveM settings under Key Bindings, FiveM applies the config default only on a player's first join.

While the menu is open only the mouse is captured, so the driver keeps driving with the menu on screen.

Every key and the `/seat` command are listed on the Keys and command page.
