# Commands

### Opening the menu

| Input           | What it does                                                        |
| --------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **M** (default) | Opens the menu, the same key closes it again |
| **ESC** | Closes the open menu, configurable in `Config.ControlClose` |
| `/carmenu`      | Same toggle as the key                                              |
| **G** (default) | Toggles the engine without opening the menu, `Config.EngineKeybind` |

Both keys are rebindable by every player in the FiveM settings under Key Bindings. The config value is the default that FiveM applies on a player's first join, so changing it later does not overwrite a key a player has already picked.

You have to sit in a vehicle and be alive. Passengers can open the menu as long as `Config.Features.seats` is on, they get the seat row.

### Seat command

Every occupant can change seats from chat instead of the menu.

```
/seat 1
```

| Command          | What it does                                                                         |
| ---------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| `/seat [number]` | Moves you to that seat. Without a number it tells you how many seats the vehicle has |

The number is the one printed on the seat buttons in the menu, so **1 is the driver seat**, 2 the front passenger and so on.

The command follows the same rules as the menu: you have to be in the vehicle, the seat has to exist and it has to be free. An occupied seat, your own seat or a number the vehicle does not have give an error notification.

{% hint style="info" %}
The command is only registered when `Config.Features.seats` is on. With seats turned off it does not exist at all.
{% endhint %}
